LUMC ADOPTED TROOP PROGRAM

In March of 2007, Lanier United Methodist Church (LUMC) adopted a military troop deployed to Iraq, with the desire to provide tangible, morale and spiritual support to these soldiers that were in harm’s way until they returned home. As part of the LUMC Adopted Troop Program, care packages containing food, morale & recreation, and basic hygiene items were sent at regular intervals throughout the year to these soldiers.

About our Adopted Troop:
LUMC’s adopted troop for 2007-2008 was a Fort Stewart Army unit from the 1st Combat Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division with 101 soldiers. This was the unit’s third tour in Iraq, and they were the first to serve the 15 month tour extension declared by the Department of Defense. They returned in April 2008.

Please keep the all these returning soldiers in your prayers, as well as those who have been wounded and the families of those who have perished, and those still currently deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan.

Our troops need and deserve our support. We urge you to find some way for your organization to show your support for our troops.
